Charleeda Redman, RN, MSN ACM, FAACM graduated with her BSN in Nursing from Carlow University in 1995. She completed her graduate studies in Case Management/Leadership at Carlow University in 2000. Ms. Redman has been a registered nurse for over nineteen years and has worked in hospital case management for over seventeen years. Ms. Redman is currently Vice President of Accountable Care at UPMC an integrated delivery and financing system. In this role she has responsibility for overseeing care management operational processes, as well as, prior authorization functions across 22 acute care hospitals and 3,500+ physicians. Ms. Redman is the recipient of numerous honors including New Pittsburgh Courier 50 Women of Excellence (2012), 40 Under 40 Recognition (2010), Manchester’s Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals (2005), and KDKA-TV Lift-up Award (2003) for Hard work and Dedication in the workplace. She has been a member of ACMA since 2005 and Past President of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter. She is also a member of Sigma-Theta-Tau Nursing Honor Society and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
From Westmoreland County, the youngest of three children of a single mother who worked at Eat ‘N Park, Ms. Redman had been a latchkey kid who rose on her own bootstraps. Gifted both intellectually and athletically, with strong morale conviction, she worked her way through the nursing program at Carlow College where she received the Caritas Christi Award for Excellence in Nursing, the All-American Scholar-Athlete Award for basketball (1,089 varsity career points), and the NAACP Academic Achievement Award, among others.
Ms. Redman was encouraged to become a physician, but she pursued a career in nursing, caring closely for patients, following and supporting them more intimately through the journey of healing. For a broader impact on patients’ lives she sought a higher degree in care management in order to guide patients along the continuum of care, ensuring their welfare and progress toward positive outcomes. Care managers are de facto patient ombudsmen, coordinating appropriate courses of treatment among healthcare professionals, hospitals, and insurance companies, seeing patients through their episodes of care, going toe-to-toe with insurers.
Part therapist, part nurse, part financial advisor and resource manager, Charleeda Redman, RN, MSN, ACM, FAACM, found her calling. At UPMC, she assists in the development and integration of a Clinical Information System for Care Management, and oversees process improvement programs, workflow redesign, and continuing education. Recognized for her dedication and talent, she rose to Director, then Executive Director of UPMC Care Management, and now Vice President of Accountable Care.
